Can u add clothing to a front loading washing machine while its running?

well im shopping for a front loading washing machine, and was woundering, can u add clothing in the middle of the cycle? and do they clean as well as a top loader with an agitator?

Mine has add a garment button, you can add something within the first seven min. I just got a new HE front load maytag and its wonderful, they save on water , on detergent, (grandchild had ink on top I didnt know it was in there and had put nothing on it and it all came out ) and they really extract the water from the clothes so much less drying time
