We’re all very aware of the benefits that aerobic exercise can yield and what better way to jump on the health bandwagon than to hop on your very own mode of transport?
The humble road bike is a serious piece of sports equipment that not only ensures that you pump oxygen through your craving body, but tightens the calves, slims the gut and gets your adrenaline running. A good road bike will set you back between $1500 and $6000 monetarily, but it really is worth its weight in gold.
A good road bike will drive you out of your car and straight into a world of healthy, social and sustainable living, especially if you join a cycling group. If you take to the internet, you’ll find tens if not hundreds of cycling groups in your city who ride for a variety of reasons and cater to any number of fitness levels. There are social groups, drinking groups, groups that brunch, corporate groups and competitive groups for those of you who are so inclined.
Most Australian cities have fantastic bike paths which ultimately mean safety and security for you and your bike, but if you do venture onto the road, be sure to stay to the left and be careful. Some car drivers show little regard for ‘meagre’ cyclists.
